About Us
The San Luis Obispo Law Enforcement Assistance Foundation (SLO LEAF) was founded in 2000 after a devastating tragedy impacted one of our own. In 1999, Jackie MacDonald, a dispatcher at Cal Poly University Police Department, was struck by a drunk driver while stopped at a red light. After months of hospitalization and treatment, Jackie succumbed to her injuries.
Her family was left not only with overwhelming grief but also with the burden of significant medical costs that were not covered by insurance. In response, members of the local law enforcement community came together to create a support system — and SLO LEAF was born.

Our Mission
The San Luis Obispo Law Enforcement Assistance Foundation exists to provide immediate and temporary financial assistance to law enforcement agency personnel, active or honorably retired, who serve San Luis Obispo County, and to their immediate families.
Whether in the face of death, serious injury, critical illness, or other catastrophic circumstances, SLO LEAF offers short-term financial relief when it’s needed most.
